Well here I am, giving birth to my veryfirstblog. Landed in BKK's new and rather swanky airport this morning, after a relatively uneventful journey. Noteworthy points: being temporarily blinded by a short stout Indian woman when she back-swathed me (my new verb for getting inadvertently caught in a swathe of sari as the wearer flings it over her shoulder); and sitting next to the dashing Hash from Kuwait, a self-confessed blackmarket jewels dealer, who insisted on giving me his keitai number and offering to show me the sights of BKK. Think I can resist.
Am now staying in the very same room I was in almost a year ago to the day, which is frankly quite disconcerting. (Shanti Lodge, Si Sou Tewet, highly recommendable - thought be careful not to slip when barefoot on the squatter and smash your jade bracelet, thereby receiving a large green splinter in your thumb.)

Tis mid-rainy season so I had to wear my birkenstocks on my hands and wade through the murky street water. Which was pleasant. Going to see about getting me a massage now then bed. Might head north to Kanchanaburi tomorrow. But then again I might not. You'll just have to wait and see ; )
